I've seen condensation in my heaters too but I had used them only for a few years and then have not used them for the last 5 years and hence IDK if it is detrimental. When I was using them, I didn't hear anything like that.
The sound resembles a micro-explosion, kind of like when a droplet of water hits a red-hot filament and evaporates instantaneously. Just a shot in the dark.
