Koi in a 20g

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the gt and tex are about 3 in. and oscar is close to 5 in.

i agree that you need to give them away to someone with the space

i would like to setup a pond when it gets nicer

I think that if you really are going to build a pond, then you should keep them if you like them. Those koi are still small, and as long as you have good filtration in the tank, you can keep them in there for a little bit. Just not for a long time. My dad has a pond and he doesn't usually plant his pond until the spring (our winters are too cold to add fish to ponds in the winter. Fish hybrinate because of the temp), so if he finds koi that he likes, he puts it into a tank thats in his greenhouse until he is ready to put them in the pond. So, your koi should be fine, unless you are planning on not doing something for them for several months.

Why not sell or give them away to those with ponds?

When it gets nicer out could i put the in my uncles pond. It was man made, about 50 feet wide, 180 ft long, and 10 foot deep at the deepest spot. It has many bluegill/sunfish, bass, channel cats.
What, as feeders?

They would get eaten at a foot long?

I have 2 koi about 4 inches in my 20 gallon, they were for our school pond, but i came to school today and our teacher drained it. How long could i keep them in there?
I thought a foot had 12 inches... :D

im not going to put them in there now, its cold, maybe grow them to 8-12 inches

ok. Should be fine. Just make sure the channel cats aren´t too big. I think the tip about not letting them get into a river system is important though.
