Koi fish worth $67,500 stolen from Linden resident's pond

LINDEN — Police are investigating the theft of 15 koi fish, worth about $67,500 from a pond on the side of a Fernwood Terrace home. Around 11:37 a.m. Sunday, May 9 police responded to the 400 block of Fernwood Terrace for a report of a theft.

A 27-year-old resident reported that sometime during the day Saturday, May 8 while she was at work someone stole 15 koi fish, a colorful carp fish, from a pond on the side of her house.
The fish, which are various sizes and colors are worth about $4,500 each for a total value of $67,500, police said. Lt. James Sarnicki said the woman has had the koi fish for quite a while.

that, who knows. i wonder if this would be covered by home owner's insurance. hope she has pics of each and every fish so she can get them appraised. or better yet, receipts if they were recent purchases
