Hey all, I'm new to the site and have been curious about something. I have a 125 gal tank and have some "semi-aggressive" fish; currently bala sharks, rainbow sharks, and expecting to get some clown loaches and clown barbs. I also would like to get a koi or two and toss them in that tank to grow while I build a pond. Would you guys think the others would harass a koi if kept together? Or possibly would the koi get too large and eat them? My sharks are about 2-3 inches currently and the loaches/barbs I've seen in my LFS are only about 2 inches max. I think the koi the store sells usually are 3-6 inches long. If necessary I could also divide the tank, but I'd assume that'll hinder growth of all species in the tank by limiting swim space. Any ideas are appreciated.

they should be fine remeber koi are cold water fish and live for a very long time. i love koi. me and my family use to breed koi we built 100,000, 500,000 for breeding them our biggest was a lmost a million gallon ponds. we had a bunch that were five ft long but those were are breeders.

yeah, the kois should be fine. i had koi with parrot fish and a pacu =), and they lived for about 6 years.

thats not fine koi live 30 plus years and can live a lot longer

well I'm planning on moving the koi within a year or so once I have a pond up and running. Just don't have the funding to build it yet but I don't want to fork out for 10-20 inch koi that I can grow myself.

I have an outdoor koi pond which we've had for several years. I've never noticed any babies before but we now have a fish that looks so huge I think she might explode! Is this normal? I'm assuming she's full of eggs but seriously, she can barely swim and resembles a puffer fish more than a koi. Can anyone give me advice on this....am I supposed to do something to help her???
