Well wanting to keep one of the better discussion on this matter going, I find it difficult that America is willing to back this. Most say well they are going to be Democratic, well so is Serbia. I find it troubling that people would use the America "gained" (pulled away) freedom, and used the patriotic notions. I would also like to remind everyone the when the American people disagreed with the government and tried to start their own country, they two were recognized by foreign powers. They also did this peacefully. Then America attacked claiming that the south has not right to leave the Union... Now we mask it will slavery issue and make it nice and fuzzy. So drop the patriot redirick.
The fact is that again the West is jumping on the side of tradition and siding against our cold war enemies. The issue at hand is that we back anyone who will stand up to these Cold War Era former enemies. The real trouble is that we care not who stands up or what they have done... We have helped horrible people take power just to have to deal with them later. This is a simple "the stove is hot lesson in action and we still can not figure it out" (We as the UN and most of the Western world).

What the US has done there is wrong... I paid close attention to the US attack on Kosovo .... The KLA are terrorists and the Albanians supported them. The agreement/ surrender terms the US signed with Serbia have not been kept, by the US .
I read hundreds of articles on Kosovo as well as had congressional reports sent to me by Senator Kerry's office... Made calls to the Ap on their BS reporting . That war was a media scam by our own media .... I spoke with the Yugoslavian embassy as well as called Kfor and talked with our military personnel....
As far as keeping Kosovo I don't think that will happen.. It's already been lost. The Serbs were never allowed to police their own borders and protect their cultural and spiritual centers .. The Serbs have been found not guilty of ethnic cleansing in Bosnia since Slobodon died in jail ..... How convenient for the US and their BS war tribunal .
The UN resolution 1244 I think it was , was an offer the Serbs had to refuse in order to take Kosovo , Appendix 1/a and b made it so.
The US won't even allow many of the Serbs in Kososvo to leave as that would spoil their claims to a multi ethnic society.. So as the author of this thread stated ... they basically live surrounded by wire ....
The only people interested in ethnic cleansing in the former FRY were/are the Albanians/Muslims and Croats/Catholics . The slaughter of Serbs under a watchful and helpful eye of the US is far,far greater than any alleged cleansing by the Serbs. I think it was 14000 serbs killed in operation Storm by the Croats and a half million pushed out of croatia with the help of the US, after the Dayton peace agreement ... These were people who's only crime to mankind and the US was being Serbs ... Then came Kosovo ...
The Albanians were allies to Germany in WW2 and had two SS divisions , The Hanzar and the Skenderberg .. Their favorite pass time was killing serbs /jews and gypsies... Some things never change ... The Serbs killed over a half million Nazi's or more, and protected jews and downed allied air crew members.... What the US did to Serbia was very similar to what the Nazis did. Look at Hitlers terms to the Serbs and look at the US made Rambuaie (sp )..
More people died in the Bombing of Kosovo by the US than the run up to it...
I know i am all over the place with this post and in the past I could have done much better, but after the Serbs pulled out of Kosovo, the issue was dead ... The US accomplished what they wanted to do, and that was to break up the FRY and try to put a US friendly government in Serbia ... Or a government that would take orders from Washington. The Serbs were/are one of the strongest military powers in europe and were still friendly with the Russians. So it was good to beat up one of the last allies to Russia.. Also there is an oil line that goes through the Balkans that is of great interest to the US . The KLA Albanians could disrupt the supply if not satisfied .. After Kosovo the Albanians started the same stuff up with Macedonia and proceeded to ethnic cleans the wester part of the country. With Americas help they succeeded .. The Macedonians saw what not complying to the US meant.. They would be labeled as Nazis and ethnic cleansers, and bombed until they capitulated ... Madeline Albright's favorite word when talking to the Serbs
All this is for a greater Albania which could not have happened if the US didn't do it for them.....
The real ethnic cleanser of the Balkans, is the United States of America ...
