L shaped plywood build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am in the process of building a 240 gallon L shaped plywood tank.
Dimensions 22 depth x 20 height x 49 front panels and 72 back panels
Front glass panels are from a 75 gallon aquarium. 48" x 18" 1/2 glass

I will be using pond shield to water proof the inside and will be using marineland silicone.

Here are some pics of what is done so far.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Here's a few pics of what I'm at now.

Just added fibreglass matt to the corners. This is one layer of pond armour, defenetly not the 60 square feet that was advertised on the instructions. Ordered two more kits, so far this tank cost me 90$ for the glass, 200$ for the wood, 500$ for the pond armour and about 100$ in other costs.

Looks good. Did you try thining out the pond armor with denatured alcohol. I believe you can to make it easier to work with. You might want to double check me on what kind of alcohol it is but I'm pretty sure it's the denatured stuff. What are you gonna use for filtration?

Yea the instructions said to use 99.9% isopropanol, and I'm gonna use a fx6 filter.

Looking good!! I'm excited for you to get it done. I noticed the corners looked like you fileted them. What did you do that with?

I first used 1" quarter round, and then covered it with stranded fibreglass mat. Very messy but I think it'll help the corners withstand the pressure
