I am in the process of getting a fellow aquarist to build me a custom stand for a 20g long tank and 5.5g tank. The 5.5 is already stocked and about two years old.

The 20g long tank is not even purchased yet. It’s my next project.

I plan to start raising some l046’s for breeding. I understand they take about two years to start breeding.

My question is, how many can I keep in a 20long?

I started with 3 males and 5 females in a 22 gallon long Mr Aqua tank. The males fought all the time and even the females got aggressive with each other. I’ve dwindled it down to 2 males and 3 females and it has been working out well.

That was my goal number, but I wasn’t sure if I was aiming too high for a 20g...I mean it’s still a fairly small tank.

If u have lots of hiding places u can keep like 10. I have a lot in a 50g and I rarely see more than 6 at a time. But I have lots of driftwoods for them to hide in. No aggression or fighting
