also try feeding at night when the lights are out. do this with my l204 they seem to like it better

this is what i do! i have also been putting some foods into the zuccini i feed them!

but since i ahve started feeding them zuccini they loved it! they ate out the center of the peice! i guess where it was softer! and they would scrape off a little bit of the rest! so once i took it out i had a zuccini donut!

They are naturally very herbivorous little plecos, its actually good that they are eating the fresh algae in the tank as this is actually more nutritious than you may give it credit for, it will be high in fresh vitamins like vitamin C (which tends to be quite lacking in a lot of prepared/dried foods).
Try slicing and sinking some cucumber into the tank, they should eat that.

Glad they are doing better. Now you get to see what they will and won't eat, plenty of ideas in the dietry thread.

Cooked de-shelled large prawns make good meaty food for plecos, but because yours is a very herbivorous pleco, i would feed such foods quite sparingly (like maybe once a fortnight or 3weeks or so) as because if you feed it too many high protein foods, you may give it digestion problems since the pleco is primarily evolved to thrive best of a very veg-orientated diet.

Other than small microorganisms and crustaceans and the occasional rotting meat they'd find they wouldn't eat much else. You could try prawns, krill, etc, but things like bloodworms might be better. No need to cook the foods... that will just degrade the food.

I agree, but the reason why i use cooked prawns is because that i find they tend not to fowl the water quality as quickly as raw prawns, so that is why i choose to go for cooked ones- plus pre-cooked prawns are a convinience food i can eat myself as well straight out of the packet too which is nice :) .

lol. I usually soak all my foods in water for a bit. Once you've done that you can see a film and the oils and general bad things that will foul your water quality. I do this with a lot of veggies too... with potatoes i'd say it was necessary- so much starch!

Yeah i wash my foods as well a lot too, they use a lot of preservatives in things like packaged seafoods, i'm not sure how harmful such things are to fish, but i always rinse or soak such foods in water beforehand to be on the safe side either way :) .
