L600

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its really difficult to tell L114 and L600 apart when small, but your pics looks like a really really dark L114 so I guess it is L600. Not to mention Fantastic Fins knows their fancy plecos.

Well as you probably know I got it from Fantastic Fins and I hope they know what they got;) I was in there for about an hour and a half trying to decide on this guy, a blue phantom or a green phantom. So I started talking to Chris and he was telling me about them.
I mean it's their specialty;)
He was $65 @ 3"

You got to be kidding me, $65 for 3"... I hate CAnada! :(

Yours seems to have a flatter and more rounded head then mine. Maybe mine is a L600 and yours is a L114, or maybe it's the other way around;)

What are you talking about?

Its the same species......

L600´s are just L114´s with yellow fins..

I know they're basically L114.
As I posted on his thread there are ways to differentiate other than fin color.
L600 are supposed to be more stockier and have a darker colouration.
With what I stated about his I find that his might just be a male and mine is a female, I came up with that assumption from reading off of this webpage http://www.mchportal.com/aquatic-li.../368-pseudacanthicus-leopardus-l114-l600.html
I am not holding any of this to be true...
I just know that my LFS here has some good ties with South American vendors and I'm sure they know this was collected from the Rupununi river (Guyana); upper Rio Bianco (Brazil) as they are stated to be collected from. The specimens there are supposed to hold the characteristics of the "L600" over what characteristics defines others as being a L114.
If you don't want to recognize it as being a L600 more power to you, I will recognize it because it makes me feel better;)

LOL! Sorry bud:D

Either way our L??? is very nice especially the price we paid. I am happy. Also If it was L600 just makes me that much happier. I know its just a label. Not important I like it anyways.

I saw that fish at F.F. I have an 11 inch L-114 male that Chris nursed back to health for me and it did look a little differant. You may have the L-600. the diiferances I have been told are from differant parts of the rivers where they are found.

Yeah, even though I really liked my L014 I find that this is a very good replacement. I'm sure as this one grows it will still be a PITA to my other fish that try to pass by or rest in his territory, just like the goldy;)

Yeah. I guess these are just found farther down the river where it has darker waters, which would coincide with them being more brighter.
I'd like to see a pic of yours?
How often do you run up to F.F.? I'm sure I have probably ran into you, me and my girlfriend stop in there quite often as she has a thing for hairy short guys AKA Chris;)

Hmmm... Might help me remember better if I knew what tank he was in, lol..

Well I just took some more pics of him. He had a small hole in his top fin as you can see in the first pic, then about ten minutes later it became a 1/8" gap that's about a 1/2" long. It should heal up fine though. I'm just wondering how he got it. I had to shew him out of his hiding spot to get the pics so I'm sure I had something to do with it splitting like it did.
