I just think its odd to have a fish sedated for local pick up..in shipping, yes..I hope he cAn cut ya a deal or something..Has he contacted you yet??????

I know it's a little late to be giving you advice, but I've had a lot of experience in shipping and receiving fish.
When they come in heavily sedated like that, after acclimating them you need to nudge them from time to time with the handle end of a net or somthing.
More often than not it snaps them out of it and they'll start swimming around, or at least try.
Somthing to keep in mind in the future if you ever run into this problem again. When I got my male home he was on his side and taking very long periods of time between his breaths. I decided to put him directly into my tank rather than acclimate and I think it might be what saved his life.
After his core temperature got up and the female started swimming around, I nudged him a few times and it snapped him out of it.
I used to have to do the same with wild discus and apistogramma I'd get shipped in from Florida.

By the way, I bought a Brycon from L Aquatics last week..Well, to be honest with you, the fish is okay and thriving but in my opinion it needed an antiboitic treatment which I gave..

payara are easyily killed with too much sedative. they are alot more fragile then other fish. ive had them come in alot with too much sedative and needed to skip the acclamation process.
in my experience they need fresh water and rest.

I understand the worry of punctured bags which is why I know a lot of big fish vendors ship fish in just foam boxes taped up and in a cardboard box. Then you dont have to worry about burst bags... it is a little more costly but it is worth it in the end and no need to sedate fragile fish.
Also if this is a local pick-up deal, what is with the sedation in the first place? just put the bag with the fish in an opaic shopping bag...

My Q now is... Whos fault is this??? I say mine (for taking him) and his for instructing of a fish he knows about (I say this cause he has kept this Tat for a while so he knows his charecter) and telling me to do something I never had a chance on.
