"I think we need to be very frank here: our main expertise is not in fish here at the Calgary Zoo,"

well frankly my dear i dont give a damn. i can understand mistakes but this sounds like a poor excuse to me.

calgary is hella far from the ocean, and its a zoo, it specalizes in mamals. its not an aquarium. for a zoo to employ a fish person is about as likely as an aquarium hiring a large animal vet.

 oh i forgot, if your located far from the water its ok to irresponsible.

man that sucks, we had something similar happen at the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago, something happened to the power and the heating system malfunctioned and killed all of the rays. such a shame

try to convince a board of dierctors to hire someone they only need for one exhibit, and you'll have an idea of the incompetence that is prevalent

ok,now that i can understand.
i was just saying that the quote sounded like an excuse, like "hey we dont know what were doin, so its ok" type of thing. guess it all boils down to money. they thought the exhibit would make them money, they were too cheap to pay someone to properly care for the animals, and it bit em in the ass.

just sucks for the rays and the people that bonded with em.

guess you guys missed the part where they said one of the pumps went down.... god forbid a person makes mistakes... i pass no judgement on them for it... some people need to pull there head out of there and move on get over it or go cry a river somewhere... they could of just kept it to themselves but the stepped up and admitted it.... bet none of you have ever made a mistake in your lives...
