can someone give me some info about these polys..They look really good, but not very avtive, which is fine. Because I don't want my armatus to shank it from swimming around him. Anyway I need some info, like what should i feed, will it clean up the mess my armatus leaves around (dead fish, shrimp peices) and also will it try to eat my crayfish (not really a problem). Also are they plant safe, like will they tear up my plants or just leave them be. And anything else you can tell me about them..

Mine are pretty stationary except at feeding time. They will absolutely pick up missed pieces of food such as mentioned. Mine LOVE crayfish and they wont bother your plants except to use them as a perch.
I think that pretty much covers the personalities of all the ones I've come across.

so when are they most active?

At feeding time and when the lights are off. I have a LOT of hiding places so you might have more active laps if you cut back on hiding places?.

um how would you say their growth rate is?

nah they're generally not active. with hiding spots, they'll likely hide. without hiding spots, they'll likely just sit there for the most part. like jconley said though, if they're ever active, it'd be during feeding and sometimes at night after lights out. they just aren't the type of fish that swim around just for the heck of it.

and yes they will pick up missed pieces of food, but only if they're interested in eating. lapradei can be pretty picky sometimes and can be shy in feeding sometimes. Also, the missed pieces of food need to be at least decent size. bichirs (all species) in general just aren't interested in picking up scraps etc.

lapradei growth rate is generally pretty slow.

mine only moves during feeding, and not that much. It has grown a little over 2" in 2 months

hmm, whats a lower jaw species that moves and is a little less hard on the pockets..
