wait, can you really use laptops for gaming? I don't know anyone who does.

I've had a Dell laptop for a year and not a single problem. *shrug*

Find a local geek through Craigslist or the Yellow Pages and have them build you one - you won't get a stock laptop at a good price that is top of the line. Alien are nice, but expensive. Stay away from Dell and Gateway, period. They're stock garbage - you're paying an extra $500 for a name.

I've thought about that but it's just easier for me right now to just buy one online. I'm in the process of getting ready to move out of state and will be starting school soon(January)

I have my HP laptop that was provided for work. Works really well, but I'm not a gamer.

I'm not a hardcore gamer, due to lack of a good computer. I don't stray away from my few PC and online games I play. Though I did buy a game recently and my old desktop just can't handle the newer crisp graphics.

Like everyone said, Mac's are more dependable and better quality - but you pay out the butt for it.

Toshiba makes good all in one laptops. Just steer clear of Dell and Gateway...there isn't any secret company that makes a fantastic computer, though. There are plenty who put out overpriced garbage.

Thanks DBS

I've never messed with a MAC, any difference compared to PC? Like compatibility, ease of use, etc?

Very easy to use, almost impossible to break on account of user error. Pretty much the only reason they crap out is hardware failure. PC's have a lot more to offer some one who knows the concepts of programming, modding your PC to run faster, ect. - but MACs are totally user friendly.

There's a learning curve as it's a different interface - but they run faster, just about anything media related comes out better, and there are all sorts of fail safes to fix it in a click if something goes haywire.

There's a reason MACs have next to nothing for viruses when put alongside a PC floating around. :)

If you think Macs are expensive, check out Macmall.com. They randomly run specials and the last one allowed you to get the macbook air (thinnest and lightest laptop built to date) for about $1,050. This was the air that had a 128gb solid state drive, 2gb ram and and over 5 hour battery life. That's a freakin steal!
