I'd go with a pair of Jags also. They are very interactive, especially if you grow them out yourself.

A pair of high quality Jags would be good if you're looking for beautiful, large-growing, active cichlids.

Personally, if it were me, I'd go with maybe 4 males of different species. Maybe a Mota or Freddy, GT (if you don't mind mixing Central and South), Argentea, and Lyonsi, or something along those lines for a good mix of looks and color.

a haitiensis pair would be awesome for that tank, like said though there are really only a few cichlids that WOULDNT work as a pair in that tank haha, and i think your tank could do a single male dovii but i dont think a 180g is big enough for a pair for life, i wouldnt try that in anything less than a 240. an argentea pair would be pretty awesome as well but they are notoriously hard to pair, trimacs are also a good choice and extremely personable, there is really tons and tons of choices, maybe help us narrow it down by saying what types of colors you would want? ooohh a nice big pair of breidhori would be SWEET and have tons of color...

Festae, Jag's, Trimac's, Umbee are all nice options. If you want great personality outside the cichlid family a nice fat fahaka puffer is an awsome wet pet but a fahaka tank is a 1 man show. You could also go for a colony of nice Frontosa or even several nice Geo's.
