What is the best way to remove a 20" Jardini aro from a tank. And to transport 2 hours away. Was thinking about keeping fish and water in large bag and keeping it in a large cooler for heat packs and a couple of aerators.
When I moved mine at that size from san antonio to austin, which is about a 1 and a half drive, I used one of those large black tuff boxes that you can buy from walmart. It was about $50 but worth it for a jardini that size. I filled it 3/4 full, moved him with a large minnow net from academy, and placed two battery aerators in with him. I strapped the box against the cab of the truck in the bed and put a strap over the top to keep the lid closed. the whole trip took me 2 hrs because I drove slow and was careful.
I would use a really large rubbermaid tote, lawn sized trash bag, aerator, and bubbler. I moved a 20" clown knife that way.
Put the bag in the tote, fill with water, move fish into bag, add bubbler, tie bag shut, and put lid on tote. Everything should be good and you shouldn't have any spillage. You can find a battery operated aerator or get a power inverter that will plug into the cigarette lighter and use a normal one.
Ok how should I get him out without doing any damage. I'v tried to read up on it and some people were saying use a bag, or large net. Don't want to mess with his barbels. Just wanted to see what you guys thought about it.
To catch him without damage get a section on large PVC tubing and coral him into it and cap it off. Than dump him into wat ever u want to transport him in. This way the room your tank is in doesn't get drenched
