Large Glass Tanks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Look forward to the pics. My family is very busy, and i worry acrylic will end up mangled. On the other hand, we will be moving in the next 3-8 years, and this weights my mind...which is a mind that is overburdened in the best of times.

i got a quote for a piece of glass for a build, the window would be like 8x2.5 feet and they said it would weigh a good 350 lbs and i decided against it. my 100g tank was a TOUGH move for 2 strong guys

even my wife can handle a 100g with gravel in it:ROFL:
Glass or acrylic. and how old is your wife? How many kids has she had? 10 years ago i was working in one of norcal's leading horticultural nurseries slinging 20 gal balled and burlapped rhododendrens straight from high humidity quarantine on my own. 10 years, a career shift, and 2 kids later, a couldn't sling a 55 glass without the substrate without help.

God it sucks to admit (and you will all learn i rarely say "god" in any post or comment) but every year that passes wears me. Hard to admit cuz once upon a time i could shame the fittest of men in what i could accomplish in a day.
Now, however, i have to rely on teamwork for the simplest of tasks.

haha.. my 125 was a task. i think theyre (if im correct) like 230lbs?..50yr old man and a 15 year old..after some exchanged words, father and son had a good bond moving the tank!..the stand we built however (300lbs, 4x4's)..thats different ;)..i cant imagine a glass tank that size without a crane!.. well..to put into prospective, Pacu mom put thier 300gal acrylic in, they used an engine hoist!..so..thats some serious glass there...on site builds are much handier ( that a word?? lol) and more safe than moving it point A to B

it took six men to get my 265 into the basement and as karma has it im the one who hurt their back:cry:
