that was pringales, my friends bass, he had him for about 6 months starting at around 5 inches getting to around 10 and he pooped allot so beware and if ur looking for a realy small bass, get a large net with realy tiny holes with a long handle, go to a lake, and sweep the shore line along a deeper bank and i guarantee u that u will get a lot of baby sunfish and posibly a baby bass. thats how i got mine when he was about 3/4 of an inch long no joke half ur pinky hes awsome! try to out in may cuz thats post spawn for the bass and u have the best chance to get one then food wise, i realy sugest u breed ur own fish. go with convicts, i havent done it yet, not enough $ but once u get a pair of them ull save alot of money on food for ur future bass. if u dont wana set up a large breeding facility, go out to a stream that u know has crays in it, buy a minnow trap, and catch a sunny, cut it up a bit so it bleeds a bit, and put it into the trap and chuck it out into the middle of the stream and in a bout a day u should have 50 or so crays or u can do the net idea in a pond and catch all types of small fish, sunnies, crays, and tad poles and dont wory about the fish u catch being "unhealty" because ur bass would have eaten them in the wild any way sorry for the long write up and good luck with u bass :nilly:

i dont know too much about the setup you would need but i know one thing for sure, youll need a HUGE TANK. Ive got a 12 pounder on the wall. the get big dude. not sure about the growth rate, i think its pretty slow. so you could prolly grow one out for a long while.

LOL LMAO! Alot of smart people here who own/raise awesome fish but not bass. Take a look at my pics.

I have also posted a FEW other write ups but when it comes down to it, its about the amount of time and money you wanna spend. Bass are VERY HARDY fish but eat a F**KING LOT. You need a wide selection of healthy food more than anything. next and at some times first, water quality. Nothing major just keep it clean. weekly to bi weekly 50% changes. Any ways if you have any questions just ask.

Love the intent but may not be the best advise. Unless you live in a very small town, find a fish store that sells quality fish. Even then dont trust the fish. Every time I buy I spend 2-3 min just staring at the fish. If I see any type of any thing bad I skip the live food. Trust me 99% of the time you can tell good feeders by just watching them. Big difference. More important, train them to eat pellets. Pellets are from what ive seen the best option. They make you fish grow rapidly and healthy. Mix in some live food as well. Feeders, worms, shrimp, scorpions, mice, beef, and any thing else you didnt finish for dinner. JK on the dinner part but mix it up. In all love your fish and dont ignore them. They will be fine.

Are you kidding me? NEVER EVER EVER RELEASE A FISH INTO THE WILD AFTER IT HAS BEEN IN AN AQUARIUM! I love this site and there are some really smart people on here, but I have seen some really sh***y advice given on the natives forum. From people saying its ok to keep a bass in a 30g, to people saying to catch game fish with nets (this is illegal in most areas!) Also, most states have size limits for bass, although that can vary depending on the body of water. Usually bass have to be 12" or 15" to keep. Most of the bass on this forum were probably collected illegally. Check your laws before you do anything.

Sorry for the rant, but I have noticed things like this going on for too long. I am an avid fisherman, and I constantly see people breaking laws when I go fishing. Illegally netting an undersized bass from a lake is just as bad as keeping more than your limit, or fishing without a license. All of this damages our resources, and its very frustrating to watch it happen.

RIGHT ON MAN!! Check your local laws and regulations. Most of us on here are responsible fish keepers, why should wild fish be treated any different. My uncle has about a half acre pond in Fl, and his fish have been tagged and watched. The first couple of years they do grow very fast. After that they grow about a pound a year. Thats just our observations. Good luck.

calm down sirs...most lakes actually don't have a min size on bass....if they do there is a loop hole were you can collect x number of said native fish for the home aquarium if they are less then 4"...so when you say most are collected illeagaly you are wrong plain and simple...if you are that frusterated about it when you see it use your cell phone and call the turn in poatcher number...don't bi#ch to people on here about keeping natives that they can keep...i am an avid fisherman aswell, there are way more bad things then someone taking there kids to the lake to get a fish for their tank...eg. i have seen someone catch muskies and cut them open and release them...their reason " these f'n muskies eat all my bass so i can't catch any"...there is the real problem with the resources...

What state do you live in? I'm not calling you a liar, but I have fished Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Hawaii, and ALL of them had size limits for bass. I don't know why it would be ok to keep some that are 4" and under if there is a size limit for anglers, I've never heard of a law like that. Feel free to prove me wrong.

On a side note, I think you are taking this too personally. I was directing this towards people who are giving advice that could get others into trouble. Not only with their aquariums, but also with the law. I don't think me trying to keep people out of trouble is such a bad thing, and I suggested they check THEIR laws, as they can vary greatly from state to state.

i live in MN now in all those states did they have a state wide min size limit or just on those lake you fished...i fish all over aswell and off hand i remember WI doesn't have a state wide min lenght eaither...i will post a copy of the regulation that says you can take up to 4 fish for your aquarium under 4"...i am not taking this personal it is just i hate it when people generalise every wc collection with the illeagal ones like you did when you said most of these bass on here were illegally captured when that is not the case...

here is the cut and pased regulation

• Transport of fish for display in a home aquarium is legal under the following
conditions:
– Game fish purchased from an authorized licensee transported with the
necessary documents (such as a sales receipt).
– Anglers 16 or under may transport legally caught largemouth bass,
smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass, black crappie, white crappie,
bluegill, pumpkinseed, green sunfish, orangespotted sunfish, and
black, yellow, and brown bullhead. No more than four of each species
may be transported at any one time, and any individual fish can be no
longer than 10 inches.
At no time may water from infested waters be

transported.
(See DNR Web site)

now i said it was a loop hole because it dosen't say you can't take them from lakes with slots, but in the same breath it doesn't say you can...i think they didn't specify this do to the fact that the miniscule numbers of fish taken for said reasons will be so small that it will not effect the population...now if you wanted more then 4 you would need a permit and thats when it would get restricted to lakes with no slot...
