i live in MN now in all those states did they have a state wide min size limit or just on those lake you fished...i fish all over aswell and off hand i remember WI doesn't have a state wide min lenght eaither...i will post a copy of the regulation that says you can take up to 4 fish for your aquarium under 4"...i am not taking this personal it is just i hate it when people generalise every wc collection with the illeagal ones like you did when you said most of these bass on here were illegally captured when that is not the case...

here is the cut and pased regulation

• Transport of fish for display in a home aquarium is legal under the following
conditions:
– Game fish purchased from an authorized licensee transported with the
necessary documents (such as a sales receipt).
– Anglers 16 or under may transport legally caught largemouth bass,
smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass, black crappie, white crappie,
bluegill, pumpkinseed, green sunfish, orangespotted sunfish, and
black, yellow, and brown bullhead. No more than four of each species
may be transported at any one time, and any individual fish can be no
longer than 10 inches.
At no time may water from infested waters be

transported.
(See DNR Web site)

Sorry I should have made it more clear, but I know many states dont have statewide size limits on bass, but nearly every body of water that has bass will have a size limit. Here in Colorado I can think of ONE place where I could legally take a bass of any size I want. I haven't fished a ton of places in the other states, but the ones I did fish all had size limits for bass, except for some private ponds I fished in Nebraska.

The regulations you posted state that the fish must be under 10", but I think this would only apply to places that don't have a size limit, since if you kept a 5" bass from a place that had a size limit, it would kind of defeat the purpose of having a size limit.

Once again, I'm not saying EVERY body of water has a size limit for bass, but MOST will. Maybe some other members will chime in about their state....

Also, none of the regulations you posted state that it is legal to use a net for game fish, which is the primary reason I made my origional post. I see people on here all the time saying they caught their fish with a net, or suggesting other people use a net to catch game fish.

looking at the regulations for each state i listed witch you listed shows that there is no statewide size limit and also that if there is no special regulation for the exact lake in qusetion the min size limit is non-existant...now i find it very hard to beleve that every lake or river in CO except ONE has a min size on bass...

it wouldn't defeat the size limit on bass on a certian lake as the number of people fishing far outnumber the people taking for a home aquarium...those people for aquarium use would be easily deturemand from streight up poatchers...

I never said every lake in CO except one has size regs, I'm sure there are more, but I only know of one.

I think this has gone on long enough, let's agree to disagree.

i must have missed that part as netting gamefish is illegal...

yes points were proven and no need to continue this...as i agree with the general statment you made but it was the generalization that you did that i disagree with...
