Large peaceful cichlids

How bad would it be if they paired up?
I would like some other cichlid besides a gt and fms. What would you recommend?
Do you think the green terror would work with 6 all female firemouth cichlids, 1 Senegal bichir, and 1 delhezi bichir?
I might put a few larger barbs if I get only firemouths and a green terror.

Ok. The fm and ebas would be about half its size and the bichir would be bigger. The bichir are slow growers but would eventually outgrow the GT. Would that be a problem?

Fish that are the same body shape and occupy the same area can be seen as competitors. Chances are that the GT will ignore the bichir unless they are going after the same food. They the GT will just push the bichir out of the way.

Ok. I will probably not get the ebas and get a green terror and a few larger barbs instead. Do you think the male green terror would push the female firemouth cichlids around?
Also, how is the female green terrors color different form the males?

Pairing of American cichlids is bad. At the very least your other fish will be confined to 2 feet of space when eggs become present. At worse, you could have dead fish.

You can't pack American cichlids in a tank. If you want a lot of cichlids, go the African cichlid route. There are a lot of varieties that are comparable in color to GT, FM, and EBA. They do better with overcrowding. The stress of overcrowding doesn't cause Africans to get sick.

If you have the ability to select only female firemouth, then you should be the one answering the questions. It's honestly that difficult to tell.
yes larger barbs are a great idea. Rosy barbs get to be a great size.

I do have the option to get all female firemouth cichlids. I don’t want that many cichlids, just the 6 female firemouths, the green terror, the Senegal bichir, and the delhezi will work for me.
I was also thinking clown barbs instead of rosy barbs.
How is the color in the female green terror different from the males?

Not as green as the male. Some can get halfway there if they are trying to be the dominant cichlid in the tank.

The green terror would be the dominant fish. Do you think the cichlids would become very aggressive if I had one breeding pair of firemouths?
Do you think tiger barbs would work?

I haven't heard of a non-aggressive breeding pair of cichlids with eggs laid. I can see the breeding FM keep the other FM cornered on the other side of the tank. I wouldn't doubt a pair can even keep a GT in check.

You won't know which is the dominant fish until roughly 4 years from now, even that could change. The GT could become the most submissive one in the tank.
