large peaceful, easy going cichlids??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if you are not interested in the Uaru than the Pearsi or bocourti would be the way to go IMO

I think thats a myth about uaru needing to be kept in groups. Certainly while they're younger its better to have them in a group, but I've found they'll often pair up (even two of the same sex some times) and break away from the group. I've kept them alone and in pairs before with out any problems. A friend actually had to seperate his two at around 6-7" as they didn't get along, they're now quite happy by themselves.
Keep an eye out for a large one for sale by itself, rather than growing one out.

What about heckelii's? They get to around 30cm, look great, and AFAIK aren't super-aggressive like most CA cichlids.

are borcoutis really peaceful, i was thinking about adding a large one with some severums always thought they were agressive though

no aggresion at all with mine. my pearsi is also very peacefull, only 4-5" right now and is in with a 1" geo that he could shurely slurp up, but pays no attn to it.

Vieja Guttulatum (This one is belongs to Nutty, is crazy gorgeous)

+1 for Chocolates, stunning example there spizz, how big is that male? (I've seen females with heads like that before :p). My guys growing up quick and they've got great (read: hungry) personalities.

Can mix it with the best of them if they want to (Rapps photo of a pair is in the same tank as a Dovii..) but are very relaxed non-aggressive fish if they aren't breeding.
