large quantities of frozen bloodworms?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I bought some Tilapia today. I think my motoro may have ate a piece. I'm not sure if my retic did. My polys sure did.

BTW you dont have to use tilapia, whatever fish your market has on sale does the job. Im a cheap guy, so I only buy whatever fish is on sale LOL, my rays will eat whatever fish I throw in, once you get them on one type of fish, they'll basically eat any other fillet you throw in.

That is really good to know. That'll make everything easier. I had to go to two different places to get the Talapia. It was out at the Dominick's and Jewel by me.

you can get a pound of earthworms for $30.99 (shipped). That's 400 worms if you go with European nightcrawlers.

All of the worms have free shipping right now, and they are all a LOT cheaper than buying from lfs or bait shop.

This is true, I use Tilapia as it is one of the cheaper fish around me other than
catfish.

How long will they live for? 400 worms would last forever.

You would be surprised. my smallest stingray, ~8", can eat 12+ Canadian (bigger then European) nightcrawlers a day if that is all I fed her. I plan on getting a few pounds of worms and then trying to raise/keep them so that they will reproduce and I will never have to buy worms again :nilly:. We will see how well that works out lol. But it is always good to offer a variety of things to your ray.

Go to Walmart and get the worm food in the sporting goods section by the nightcrawlers. Put the worms in a rubbermaid tote with drip holes in the bottom and topsoil and sphagnum moss mixture. water the mixture to a good consistency. spread 2 lines of worm food 2"wide and 1/8" deep over the surface. and forget about it. every week or so check the dampness and add more food. Red wigglers will begin to reproduce in a couple of weeks and you will have a self sustaining culture. I this when my Motoros wer getting tanked in. I kept it outside but it never began to smell. Dont compost indoors only use good wormfood mixtures.

I don't think i'd be able to leave them outside it chicago. They'd freeze. I'll have to give it a shot. Hopefully it'd work.
