Large tankmates for rays

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
fact is, some cichlids are passive yes... but most are not. And its not worth the chance to even take that chance...
Hell, I have bought several fish that were supoe to be passive adn turned out to be bully fish...
The best thing to do is, when you know a spec is known to be aggressive, then dont do it. Like I said, not worth the risk...

i would go with a smaller gar they dont grow as quick as aros and dont eat as fast as the pbass i also think datnoids and geos work well

I think Uaru amphiacantoides is a good tank mate. Just like discus, but a bit bigger. I´m gonna try them in a month, a group of 8 in 250x100x50cm with 24cm leo male and 18cm leo-pearl female.

Best regards
Ernesto Roa.

I have 4 GG's, 1 Aro, 1 NGT, 1 RTC, 1 Marble Cat, and 1 MBU all with my motoro and been that way for a while now with no issues. They all get to eat. Nothing picks on the ray, here and there the GG's will chase one another but other than that, they all get along. But the ray will soon be house with a prego female come this Sunday all in a tank of their own.

Gars , Aros , Datnoids , Polys.. theses are a few choices.. my rays are doing fine with my polys since i got them.. :)

i've heard that the hybrid parrot cichlids are fine with rays, because of some deformity with their mouths, they can't close them to do much damage to rays. it's kind of funny too cuz they always look like they're surprised.

cant but not impossible.. i would not risk the fact that there is still a possibility they could inflict dmg to the rays..:)

x2 on the uaru's they're great with are rays, except they eat everything and sometimes its hard to get the rays food
