IN YOUR HEAD
i tried to mix my other aro again with an epic fail. so i though of a few things.

1. move the big aro out of the 180gal and into the 120gal for some time out. with the thought of the 180gal becoming nutral territory to try the mix again. (doing this now)

2. sell them both and get some more small ones to grow out again. didn't work for me before, but damn i have to find some aros that get along at some point.

the big aro was communed with 5 other aros at around the 8" point, but at 10" it became alone. it is now 23"+ and thick. i didn't relise how thick it was till i put my hand over its eyes to calm it during the transfure. at that point i was like, "oh my damn, its chunky!":grinno: a good 2-3" across the back. a full belly helped the thickness, but still.

anyone had this work before? i tried to search for a thread about this, but i can't work the search function all that well.

here are some pics of it in the 120gal. remember this is NOT a perminant house for this aro. it will be moved back after it is no longer veiwing the 180gal as its territory.

hell these pics may help someone from getting one to keep in a 120gal or 125gal for life. as it is alittle cramped in the 4'x2'x2' footprint.

hey scott..Was looking at your old thread (a lost cause) after reading this.. cos i remember having replied there.. how many aros do you have right now? jus the large one? if you dont have a lot of attachment for the big guy or the other aros you could prob sell em all and try with juvies.. starting with the 180g.. gives them ample space right from the start.. try around 5 to 7 juvies.. dont give up mate.. all the best..

i have the big one and one in the 15" range. i have thought about selling the 2 aros to start again, but the wife likes the large aro. i sold my other large aro i had to get theses last groups i have had. i wouldn't be able to put them in the 180gal right off the bat cause of my gars, tsn and large bichirs. i could start them in the 120gal by themselves. i am tring not to give up one a community of aros, but i am irratated that i have not found some that would mix, by now. i have had many aros and i have only had 5 that mixed including the current large aro, but my damn mono pbass f'd that up. i'll try this time out thing and then if that doesn't work i most likly will sell to try again.

i reread that thread again. i didn't remember the whole thing, but after rereading it i may convince the wife to sell these 2 and start freash again. i dislike that, but it may be the only way to get the tank i want to see.

well just got back from the lfs. made a deal, on monday i will be taking my 2 silver aros and a dat up to the lfs. in exchange i will be getting 6x 4" silver aros. doing this on an impulse, but the way i see it if it works i will have my community tank. if it doesn't i will have an aro to grow out and 5 to sell. with the large group at the size they are it should work.

i know u have hostile attitude toward me, but lets just put that aside for now, i know nothing about ur plan in the future except u want aro community, but how many aros u wanted to have in one tank, and is that 180G that the final tank u wish for the community?
but im sure u know that 180G is too small to have an aro community with listed stocks to get along to each other.
but hey im sure u getting ready to turn a a swimming pool into ur tank in future right to meet ur demand?
if you dont thats your problem right there, and thats all u will be doing for a very long time and cycle back to 0.
im looking forward to it and proved me wrong :)

I just traded in a 15 inch silver for a 6 inch black arowana. I have a 180 gallon to and they are simply to small to house a full size silver.. 180s are the minimum size for jardinis why dont you try some of those? I plan to sell the black arowana when it reaches 20 inches. or trade in for a small black.

They're generally alot more agressive than any other species. If you were to try a jar comm, it would be almost as hard as trying to educate dayak.
WTF with and assault comment?
