im going bulkhead hunting today.

90 gallon acrylic.going to drill my own holes.
24" x 15" x 15" tupperware
3 drawer tupperware to go in the other tup.
258gph pump with 3/4" outlet.

if 3/4 bulkheads flow around 400gph "dont remember exact" will it flow to much for the 258gph pump?

should i use 3/4 for overflow and return?

just drill the holes anywhere, but at the water level i want?

and are bulkheads the best way to go with w/d?

thanks to anyone that replies.

You should just get a bigger pump..
Or add shut off valves to restrict the flow from your drains :) Then you get to play with it til it is just right...

Your rating is without any restriction.. His has the foam prefiler and the holes... your are not going to run at 400 gph draining with that.. I don't think.. and even if you were after your water level drops to the level where it is about to stop, the draining flow will pretty much be what ever your pump is putting into the tank.. So just make sure that your sump water level after the tank drains down to the set tank level doesn't overflow your sump and you should be all right.. Might be alittle noisy too :)

But i would pm him and ask him straight from the mouth of the man :) Thats where you'll get the best answer :)

EXACTLY:D

You dont need valves on your overflows (other than to shut them off)

As long as your overflows will flow more than your pump, you're fine.

so then 3/4 bulks will work for me?

and to figure out where to put them,
way i think...
fill tank to max water level,
then drain water out into the sump,
fill sump to max level.
then where ever the water line in the tank is at that point,
thats where to put the bulks.
sound right?

thanks for the replys.

is it a bulkhead that accepts 3/4" pipe? If so i think it will be ok. I'd feel safer with 1" but 3/4" PVC should work (I've never worked with anything less than 1")

you cant flow too much from your overflows:) You could use 4" if you wanted. They'll only overflow what the pump displaces in the tank.
