Biggest catch in freshwater ever!..........................but only in digicam. lol

I've been fishing the past 3 weeks every time I ventured out in the lake here. Before that I would first walk around the lake to scout for suitable targets, before I go back out to fish. Early last month I realized that I was almost 20 fish short of last year's pace and drop the scout first part and just go fishing almost every day. That change in strategy worked so well I was not only able to catch up to last year's pace but actually surpassed last year's total a couple of months early.

Yesterday's wake up call with the hook in the hand event made me realize there's no more need to keep going the same way as in the past weeks.

So, today I went back to the scout first then fish only if targets are there. Here's today's catch - a 3 foot grass carp on digicam. Visibility was very poor given the overcast skies, windy conditions, and very brisk water movement and the carp foraging near shore was all I saw.

haha, that carp looks a little skinny by Japanese fishing standards...

anyways, when my friend caught the big pacu, he just threw a piece of nightcrawler out on 6lbs test line..no snaps, weights, or bobber.
you can see the fish all move to it..and tick tick tick tick...GRRREEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! that's the sound of his drag, on his bass rod!
the main lin was 10lbs but since the leader was only 6, it took him around 15minutes for the thing to get tired. He let me feel it for a few mintutes, it was WILD kinda like the hard tug of a carp and the shaking of a bluegill. i wish we had underwater footage, would have been great!

i was pretty surprised that the pacu came for the worm though..since i read that pacus are herbivores that only eat cucumbers..or something?? what do you suppose the wild ones live off of?

Caught two pairs very early today, including the biggest/heaviest/figthingest pair I ever caught so far. Now at # 126 and still counting.:D

First male - 16 inches

Second female - 18+ inches landed after 5 runs on 15 # line

The second male again. I had to kneel on it to hold it down for a measurement. Someone took off with my locking tape measure when I left it behind after catching the first pair. The tape was gone when I returned to retrieve it. My backup tape does not lock.

I've been trying to catch PB only if they are at least 17 inches in the past few days. I don't even cast if they look like they might be short. This one was caught on a jointed Shad and looked like it might be at least 17 inches. The fight it put up was worthy of a fish that size. It did not quite measure up and was short by a little bit.

# 127 is 16 + inches. The grass where it lies was keeping the tape from staying alongside the fish. Check out the speckling. It was released to fight another day. (-=

This Female Pea is a 13+ inch fighter. It's upper lip was torn up during yesterday's action. Hooked it today on the lower lip.

Midnight this one is for you! lol

This one is most likely female, being the smaller from a pair I went after earlier today. Did not have a chance to verify. Just took the pic and quickly unhooked it and threw it back and went after the bigger one. No luck with the bigger one. It was too busy fending off a pack of predators going after its fries. There were LMBs and Peas in the pack.

Also hooked the bigger fish twice from another pair with two different lures but could not land it. That pair moved into deep water and disappeared after the second hookup.:(

Here's my only catch today, it's about 15 inches

Went fishing in the rain this morning hoping to catch my new personal best. I caught my 22'' under similar raining conditions.:)

Caught these two. First is 15+inches and the other 13+ inches. Encountered two other pairs but they were not as accommodating as these.
