Latin names for fish

Question is other than fish boards, when do you really use latin names?

Only other time I can think up is when you order fish online...

I write down latin names in the back of my text books, use them for gaming avatars (I love using Parachromis as a career alias) and use them in general jargon with fellow fishkeepers on MSN and in fish meetings.

What about common names where you must use the latin name? Example: A Synspilium is also said as 'Vieja Synspilium'.

Well I don't have too many friends that keep fish that I actually speak too, so hence the pronounciation problems... so in honesty not a lot, but then I don't talk about fish much outside of fish boards so...

When it comes to fish in the genra of monsterfishkeeping I know a good bit of their latin names. Pronouncing them correctly is a whole other story!

When it comes to fish in general I know more then 99.9% of the worlds population but that isnt saying much....
