LAZER the FLOWERHORN

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ik with your FH it really reminds me of my original breeder female, Big Bertha's mom. Here's a pic to show what I mean. Also cuban FH's are actually very popular in the FH community. They get the nice black and white colors from the cuban but they keep the body and build of a FH. Just got to be careful when buying a Cuban FH tho, allot of ppl will try to scan ya by selling ya a black kamfa under the same name. Black kamfas may look similar to Cuban FH's but they don't get that nice solid black and white color, it's more of a black-dark grey and the white is more of a light grey-blue. I wonder tho what a Fader Cuban FH would look like tho. No clue what the base color of that hybrid would be so no clue how one would look with the fader gene. Wonder if the base color would be red like the FH or if it would be more of the white color from the Cuban genes.

They honestly remind me of a mini-green terror. Ik they are sometimes hybridized with GT's just to make a miniature GT's.

Yeah I ended up rehoming my original female just because I didn't have the tank space for 3 female FH's. She was pretty tho, really liked her red bands on her fins. Never found nother FH with banding as thick and define as hers. Lol just wish she would've passed that down to Star or Big Bertha but sadly neither of em got that trait.

Hey,
Hope everyone is having a great day!

Well i just wanted to update those of you who commented on Lazer, S/he is a she....

Craziest thing i went to check on her and my other Cuban Cichlid and it seems Lazer has laid her first set of fry. Shes been fanning them and staying close. My Cuban is off to the other side of the tank.

I didnt see this coming altho i was told it was very common. If we choose to keep some or any make it [being its her first fry] i will definitely post pics.

Thank You Everyone,
Sabrina

Congrats! Hope all of em make it. Would love to see what varieties of traits they'll end up with. Best of luck on your newly found addiction lol.

lol well it didnt last long..i think the male cuban ate them bc they were gone and she was hiding from him so i separated them for now lol if anything new changes i will post pics lol
Well that sucks but that fish for ya. Personally if it ever happens again I would put a divider in the tank to prevent the cuban from eating all the eggs again.

oh wow thanks thats very good to know very valuable! i will keep thst in mind for sure!!
Yeah this can happen with most any sort of fish that forms a pair thru bonding. Granted this can be used to your advantage as well if you decide that ya want to pair em up with other fish.

Hopefully yours gets the whole parenting thing down right. It generally takes a few tries or more before ya can tell if they're going to be good parents or not. Generally I look for small improvements in how they do things every spawn because generally if they continue to improve they will become good parents but if they show no improvement they probably just weren't ment to be together so to speak lol.
