Laziest fish ever?

Glad you like Twisty the Clown,Rodger but they've killed him off....the best character on the show!

My larger Banjo cat is pretty lazy. We call them "dead cats" because they simply do nothing all day. The next morning they will be somewhere else in the tank, but I have only seen the larger of our pair (actually witnessed motion) once in the time I have had tem. The smaller Banjo has twice now actually pumped it's way about the tank. (I think it's just a young one and has not figured out that I will drop the food on it's nose if it stays still like the larger one.)

They don't "swim" like anything else I have seen. More like a bellows, they will pump three or four times to gain some height then glide long and slow back down using one side fin or the other to slowly change direction.

I had a raphael cat for 5 years and didn't know about it. I picked him up from a guy, put him in my tank and never saw him again. I just assumed he died and the body was eaten before I saw him.

Agreed ^ . Mine doesn't even know it when I pick him up or just doesn't care. uploadfromtaptalk1415850459985.jpg

Because I have massive tanks, a local shop called me and offered a massive Pacu for free. I came by to take a look and not only was he the size of a large watermelon, he required at least a 500 gallon tank just for himself. He was in a 90 gallon and barely had an inch to move around. They actually had a full grown oscar dumped in there with him and the oscar appeared to be beaten to an inch of his life.
Interesting but I fail to see what all of that has to do with laziness in a fish.

as normal as it gets for these cats, try different lighting it might help.

also you have pics of this 25 year old beast?

I did a major water change yesterday, and still couldn't get pics
And hes holding true to his laziness. I wasn't sure he was still in his spot, and I was trying to wedge my stump back up. I reached in and touched him, he never even reacted!
His head is easily 2-3 inches across though. And his whiskers are close to 2 inches probably. Hes really a gorgeous fish!

How do you know he is gorgeous if you can't see him?

The Oscar cichlid..........These fish gloat a lot...........When fed to the extreme, they actually lay down on the gravel for a minute............

What's large for a banjo? I've had one for 4 years. It's about 4" inches - or at least was the last time I sucked up his tail in my gravel siphon! I usually see it nice or twice a year.
