My mom and dad saying to just put a bit of silicone on the outside where it’s leaking. Will that work

My parents are going to buy it right now but the only place that has it in stock is almost an hour away so it’ll be awhile. Right now I moved the FH and devil to two separate plastic tots that I siphoned water into and still working on emyting the tank
