I would not be caught dead paying over $500 for a fixture like that. Sure, it might look nice, but it's really meant for sw corals. You don't need something that intense for freshwater.
I tested the single module....not the 600. one! The single fiture is 99. Two would be good for a 48" tank....4 for longer....I am keeping fish not plats or coral but the intensity would be great for plants.

Well as far as plants go, what are we talking here? Because I'm talking about high light, co2 enriched tanks. I'm sure these can grow low light plants, I've grown anubias with no lights on my tank at all! ;)

But corals and high light plants will cost you quite a bit of money up front. I agree it will save on energy and bulbs in the long run. What's not to like about LED except the cost?

But prove me wrong, show me a real planted tank running on cheap LED...

marineland also makes a sweet led light that that will grow corals and plants that need high intensity lights. They are not that much more then a big T5 fixture that has expensive bulbs to replace.

I have had some of my hooping friends pull the strips out of their hoops and hold it over my tank. It seems good.

I understand where you are coming from though. Here is a vid of someone with it on a smaller tank. Yes my tank is larger, so it has more water to penetrate, but I still think it will suffice if I get all 16 feet worth of LED's to shine. Also, I already have 2 36" T5 lights. I am really getting this for a cheap moonlight so I can see my nocturnal fish without disturbing them.

post some pic's when your done. It worked great on that 10g, with the entire 16' you might pull it off.

Will do as soon as I order and it gets here. Might even do a little vid on open to finish.

Someone else on this site must run Ecoxotic Panarama fixtures. These fixtures are amazing.....there is video of them on Foster Aquatics! I tell no lies!!

i'm considering switching all my tanks from hagen 48" HO glo t5 54w x 2 to those ecoxotic panarama modules , the $100 ones, i'll somehow sell off my t5's and buy like 4 of these led. i'm actually worried that it might be too bright, and the lack of the purplish red glow that some t5 gives off, that bumps up the red in fish, i think i need that ....

anyway, i would love to hear more LED options.

on ebay i see these 225 led panels , a package of 4 is like $100 .... anyone use those? but seems like they are lotsa lotsa tiny LEDs though...

* i dont really wanna use any actinic in a freshwater tank ....

been running one of the 36" marineland doubles on my 46gal for a few months now and lovvvvvvvvvvvve it, both the day and night settings look sweet, would be nice to have seperate outlets to set them each up on a timer but there are some diy mods out there if you really don't like flipping a switch. The new reef capable models are supposed to be out, really curious about those, anyone tried them yet?
