I'm sure a lot has to do with people not doing the proper research too. The two cats do look fairly similar, thus easy to pawn off as a misrepresented version of a true P. perruno.

I love my L. longibarbis, but I would be pretty upset if I paid a P. perruno price for a $30 L. longibarbis.
Can anyone post side-by-side photos of perruno and L. longibarbis? I'd like to know the other differences, aside from ray count. Tnx!

I've been trying to find pics of a true P. perruno, but they don't seem to exist anymore...if I find one, I'll post one with my L. longibarbis for all to see. :D

damn.
he looks good.
do you notice he sometimes is extremely hungry then wont eat for a few days?

Thanks...yeah, I notice that especially when I'm feeding when the tank is near water change time. He will usually take about 4 jumbo shrimp and about half a haddock/pollock fillet when he's really hungry...but if he's being picky he's eaten as little as a single shrimp and refused everything else.

i should be getting 1 of them 4 £50 and its about 12"-14" :D

Nice...you won't be dissapointed...they are great catfish. My guy is about 17" now and his pattern is still as striking as it was when he was 4".

Make sure to post some pics when you get him.

looking good ksb!

I've got two now, bought the first one about 6 inches less than 4 months ago...it's pushing 12 inches now. The second I picked up when it was about 8 inches. That was 3 weeks ago. He was being kept in a 25 gallon tank. Now he's in the 150 with the other longbarb, rtc and tsn. He now measures 10 inches...wtf!

Great fish, great personality

I was amazed with the growth rate with my guy as well. This is actually an old thread (January) so he's even bigger now..:nilly:..about 17". When I first got him, I put him in my 150 because I didn't want my bigger guys eating him, but within no time he was the largest fish in that tank.

Great fish, great personality

I couldn't agree more. He used to hide quite a bit, but ever since I put a new piece of driftwood to break up the left side of my tank, he has been perched at the top branch...just sits there with my lima and gar...pretty interesting sight. :D
