Easy tiga... If you noticed Steve's lei is in a pond.
Here is a quick question for ya. Other than Steve's I have never heard of any Lei close to 30" that has lived in a tank from day 1?
Most people do not have the room for such a large tank, or mutiple tanks. Should they not keep such a fish? Hell no!!
They should get the fish they are interested in keeping and keep up water quality and have a large healthy fish.

On the other hand there are people that have no common sense when it comes to money;) and have more than enough room to keep monster tanks but thats another story.:)

he had to move it because it was so frustrated in the 180 that it almost killed itself.

you also gotta take into account that alot of people cant get ahold of this fish as easily as the other arowana species. When they do the end result is usually failure. and it never sees the day n age of reaching that size.

the thing is that if u invest in a huge tank now, there is a much higher chance that ure arowana will survive to the later stages of its life. furthermore, ull never has to worry about the tank size, considering ure tank is of good quality. if u cant afford a good tank now, dont even try and buy the arowana now.

I would love to buy a tank wider then 2' but i can't seem to find one at a resonable price. Planning to pick up that 240 acrylic 8x2x2 (with filter, heater and stuff but planning to build custom wet dry, referdrium, etc for $400) to house my silver aro and catfish. Which are in a 7x2x2 glass tank at the moment. And then planning to stack my 250 over that 240, but seems more people suggest going with a wider tank. The 250 being 1.5' wide prob wouldn't be the best idea in the long run correct? AM i better off selling my 250 and finding something atleast 2' wide? I could see the 1.5' wide tank being a problem for a lei once it get long enough. And i dont see any tanks 3 feet wide going for under $2,000.

I've seen many big leichardtis in tanks with 30" width.

I would say that is minimum as they are not as flexible as silvers etc.

Aim for 30" width...that extra 6" will make a big difference.

Ill keep looking for something 30" wide atleast, doesn't seem to be as common as most tanks ive seen for sale. Where else should i be looking? MFK? RECYCLER ? CRAIGS LIST?

dont have to many worries. you have about 2 years imo before its needed. mines about a foot almost, and i've had it for about 8 months. grew about 10" in the 8months. its only in a 6long and 20"wide and i think i have about another year in it, if not it goes outside to the 400 but i dont really plan on moving it. only if i have to. leis are great fish with awesome personalities and beautiful colors so take good care of it
