from what i think i know, leichardti's barbell grow as they get older
while jardini's barbell shrink as they get older

I dont think they shrink. Maybe its becuase they damage it and it doesn't grow back as easily when the aro is older.

Too bad these are the only ones that somewhat resemble the much desired Asian counterparts that we can get in the states. Who cares if a Silver or black has nice barbels, they are the jumpiest fish I've ever encountered. Monster fish arent supposed to freak out like they do IMO. Barbels shmarbles, I say.

All aros are jumpy if you keep on spooking them. Even asian aros and aussie aros would do this kind of behavior, especially when they are still young.
