Lemon tiger Oscar

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It’s not about the initial parameters, it’s about building up enough bacteria to handle any nitrogen.
I know I got a water test kit today and tested it all if you want I can post pictures of tap water test strip next to my aquarium water test

Strips or chemical? Strips aren’t very accurate.

Ok whenever I get a new job most likely starting this weekend then I’m going to buy a 75g and put my Rtc/Tsn, arowana, giraffe catfish, pacu, jack Dempsey, and flagtail into the 75g tank and I’ll get my dad and grandpa to help me build a 1,000g pond for them to stay in after it’s finished and while the catfish and aro are all in the 75g I’ll have lemon tiger Oscar my other jd and salvini cichlid in the 40g tank along with the eel catfish then whenever the catfish and aro are moved to the pond I’ll move the other JD the lemon tiger Oscar and salvini to the 75 where they’ll stay for a while if the lemon tiger Oscar and JD outgrow the 75 then I’ll move them to the pond which will also have mesh screen on top so the aro can’t jump out and as for filtration I’ll use a 5g bucket with ceramic, lava rock, and whatever else I need and my dad can get that pumping and working in no time and I’ll have a pool heater
youll need several 5g bucket filters or a +30gal tote instead. you sound extremely irresponsible doing this i dont know why youd even post it. when you read the minimum tank size for something it is usually the bare minimum. none of these fish should see a 40g besides at a pet store waiting to go into a suitable tank. this is ridiculous and youll have some dead fish on your hands very soon. you shouldnt be spending any money on more fish, you still need to spend allot of money on making more space for these fish. youre in way over your head.

I know I really probably shouldn’t of posted this ever but I did and honestly I’m happy I did I’m happy I’m getting all this right now cause I’ve gotten things more under control than they were earlier I’m selling my cichlids this and next week then I got a friend with a 500g tank that he said he’ll house my arowana and catfish In until I have everything set up at home

So now that he has been spanked, why don’t we help him out on how to actually make it work rather than scare him off of fishkeeping forever??!!!

The younger generation is the new us, imagine all the stupid stuff we used to do. At least this person is accepting advice and help. There are many adults out there who deliberately choose to go against advice from this site. If we don’t encourage our younger keepers we will be sitting here playing with our big fish by ourselves complaining why the site is so dead and how no one keeps the cool fish anymore.

Thank you and yea earlier I was actually contemplating going out of the hobby but I appreciate all the comments I understand you’re all worried about the fish and all that’s needed for proper care but I know what I’m doing you’ve all made me think long and hard on what to do

The test strips suck, but it’s better than nothing. Get yourself an API test kit when you can, but keep an eye on your water.

look up nitrate cycle and that will help you keep them alive longer. Understand bio load and how to keep beneficial bacteria alive.

over filter, slightly under feed, water change, water change, water change. Don’t give up, get another job and start your own business. You will need lots of money to keep these kind of fish.

do all your chores and anything your parents ask if you, don’t give them any lip, you won’t be getting any big tanks other wise. When they see how passionate about it you are they will eventually support you when you need it the most.
