I don't think strigata get any larger than lenticulata. It's sp. "Venezuela" that you need to watch out for.

With that said, lents and strigata would make me nervous even in a 120. I've had problems with much less aggressive Crenicichla species in a 125.

The people on the pike forum said that a Lent and a Female festae along with a catfish or two should be alright in a 120.

If it is just the one lent you should be OK. It's when you have more than one pike together that you need be careful.

On another note, looking the two smaller lents that I picked up in Cali 2 months ago I think the may be the red back strigata. I'm really hoping they are!!

I only plan on keeping one of the Pikes, which means the other might be up for sale soon.

Keep me posted. If yours are the Red Back Strigata I may be interested to increase my chances of getting a pair.

The dorsal fins were up tonight. Both Pikes are showing a white strip so I think they are both female.

Strigatta, lent, who really cares. Those are some sharp looking lugs my friend. (J/K, I sorta care)

Wow, looking at these pics I'm even more convinced they are not lenticulata.

Yeah, I am starting to doubt that they are Lents. I still really like them though. Maybe they are an undescribed variant?

Absolutely possible. I think that we know very little about all the various species of Crenicichla, not to mention the geographical variants, that exist.
