Well, the nice thing about leopard geckos is that their husbandry will be as expensive, or inexpensive as you want to make it.

I made four hides (2 dry, 2 moist) for $2. Their water dish and calcium power dish, cost $1 (I used some plastic lids made to use as lids on cans of cat or dog food, pet section at walmart, 2pk for $0.98). A roll of paper towels (which will last a month or so) - $2.

Some hides can even be made free with stuff lying around the house.

If you really care about the well being of the animals, take another look at all the good advice beign given to you, and seriously think about using it.

Another thought, animals really shouldn't be 'projects' if you don't have the funds to fully support them, especially being a kid in highschool.

Yup calci sand, thats the thing;) They like to put entertaining advice:D

-sigh- alright. I'll see what I can do. In the mean time, what to do with 2 bags of calcisand.......

On the plus side, they both started eating ^^. I'm handfeeding them waxworms for now, but they'll get crickets too, down the line

Sweet:D By the way do you already opened both bags? If not you could try to bring the untoched one to the shop and trade it for something else;)

Well the idea is for trading the untoched one by some thing she wants. But yes is kind of like keeping your herp permanently on calcium suplements and a good thing to remenbar about thouse is that lack of them is so dangerous as it is the excess. Its a tricky substrate to use. The only that would be 100% safe would be inverts like hermit crabs, scorpions and such. :D

Both bags are already emptied into the tank. so no, trading won't work. Buuuuut, I'm sure there's gotta be SOME tank in this school that can use it. think it would be ok for sanddy-bottom fish or no? or beardies? we just two of them ^^

btw, im bringing my turtle in a month or so to avoid too much stress from moving 45 min away. so while im there, ill try to get some pics of the school we're quite proud of our catch tank. Full of silversides, toadfish, pipefish, mummichogs, and killis from the nearby bay. we got about 30 - 40 something specimens in one day of seining XD
