Leo/pearl x pearl.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He was fully mature at 8" wide and he was biting the crap out of my females trying to breed with them. He was too small and not strong enough to hold onto them to get the job done. I would have eventually started losing females to stress if I held onto him so he had to go.

So small is not better in the case of breeding males.

That was my main concern with him - was whether or not he could get the job done given his size and one clasper. I was thinking being smaller he would do less damage to the females, but if he couldn't do the job and continued to harass them they would just get stressed out. Interesting enough, ocean female rays are 4 times the size of the males, but I guess they have a lot more room to get away if they don't want to mate.

Looks nice I am surprised it is so black since it is 3/4 pearl. What about male?

Nice black as a leo but different in it's own way. I sold the male as one of his claspers was damaged from another male and was only 8.5"wide and fully mature. Too small to breed any of my big females and when he tried to breed my henlei females he was damaging them too much. Not too mention I couldn't put him anywhere away from my female henlei's and the other tank had the bd/leo male that won't allow any other males in the tank.

Very nice Trev! She looks very nice.
Thanks Mike. Too bad the male didn't grow big like the female or I would have kept him.

Ya too bad for the male. Hope he went to a great home. They both looked great.

All good trev. You have an outstanding collection of rays already so I'm sure you can spare not keeping that one. His pattern is very nice as well though. I couldn't believe how nice these 2 turned out. They were definitely the nicest of the batch that were imported. The rest looked more like sp rays but these turned out amazing with more black ray genes. Good pick lol
