Rays are much messier eaters then most fish, but more importantly just flat out excrete more waste (elevated ammonia output).
Rays impact the bio load lb for lb much more then normal fish.

Off topic, but did you make your avatar from shed spines?

if i had a problem with how it was going i would have stated it, like when we were missundersatnding each others posts...i am a up front guy and i am not scared to speak my mind...lost a few jobs due to that...there really isn't much info on some topics like this one so it is good that it got brought up...

i guess i am not proving much, but this is day 4 no water change.. last water change was Friday. I am getting 20ppm.
i also changed my 240 the same day. Both tests were 15-20ppm. My 240 has
1 female motoro (prego) 16"
1 leo 8"
1 hystrix 9"
2 hystrix 7"
1 silver aro 13"
1 armatus 14"

this tank is only run by 2 fx5's full of scrubbies, and 1 500gph power head and 1 250 gallon power head.

Mine only look like that the first few minutes. After the 5 minutes they're red.

:(

Must just be me. Guess I'll change up the filtration and see if that helps.

im with u lol

once u get them down its not that hard to keep them down.

I tested my nitrate the other day with 2 test kits, both made by API and the same as pictured above. One kit is older and almost out of reagent while the other I recently purchased. There was about a 20 ppm difference between the 2 kits. The new kit was reading much lower than the older kit. Makes me wonder how accurate this brand is.

Sbuse, any more word on the leo price?

While I agree with the theory of drip systems and how much more beneficial they are, there are some exceptions that show it isn't absolutely necessary. Lincolngoh for one. He has a 6 x 4 x 2 tank with 10 large (Gorgeous) rays and 1 or 2 aros. He only runs 1 Eheim Canister, slum/sump and a PowerHead. With 70% water change every 5-6 days.
For some it just isn't feasible whether it be from tank/pond location or routing. So hose and faucet is the only option.:(
Just food for thought.

look at this stock, his tanks always look perfect, check out his waterchange schedule and his stocklist.

That's very impressive! Hard to believe there's not something special, a trick, or a secret. Common reaction is disbelief when a single person gets so much different results then the masses while using the same tools.

Some believe in magic, some think there's more to it then that.
