Ok Ive kept a few mbu's over the years. In my experience they will not attack mid water fish, but anything that rests on the bottom will get bitten in time. I had one Mbu for 2 years, didnt touch anything then suddenly night after night more of my polypterus (some as big as 20") and big clown loaches were having chunks missing from their tails and in some cases their faces. I would not believe it was my peaceful Mbu. For 3 weeks this continued with me selling 4 different fish that I assumed must be the culprit before I finally saw the Mbu bite the head of a 11" delhezi. Literally took off the front of it's face.

All it takes is one bite, they are not aggressive fish but they are curious and investigate with their teeth and when it does bite it will be on the eyes or tail of the ray and you will be sorry. I just hope you take the warning and listen as you seem to be dismissing some well learned opinion.

As ive said every MBU has a different personality, this MBU has been peaceful for 10years and i dont see why it would change. But I dont think ill buy him due to him being very old (i just found how old he was today)but ill make a descision on thursday.

Checked the threads and the vid in the last one if you look has a ten a penny redtail cat a cheap as chips silver arrow and a low grade motoro that totals in cost about £200 if that for all of them. Wonder how long it will be before that little mbu goes on a nibbling spree. I dont have anything against these puffers i just dont see any reason for putting one in with a delecate ray only for it to decide those ray wings look to tempting. Your filtration sounds fine just check your nitrates are less than 25 ppm 0 nitrites and 0 ammonia ph is stable 6.5/7 also check your kh/gh and when you get your ray aclimatize it to your water with a drip feed over at least 1 hour as they dont do well to sudden changes.
I've led the horse to water but i cant make him drink it.

that was a good read, just curious it has been a while now did you get the ray or did you get the puffer or did you dive in for both?
im not up on trickle towers but going on just the rena and internals i would not trust my rays with just that.
Post pics if you picked anything up?
also are the plans still there for a 450gallon?

I went to veiw him but upon arrival the MBU was about 17inchs!!! i said to him thats not 2ft but he was shore it was 2ft but to cut a long story short i didnt buy it, i just brought one of these Potamotrygon orbignyi. Although i wish i didnt as one of his stingers fell of during transport so as i squeezed the bag to get the last lot of water out the bag guess what, it stung me! 2hours of pure pain!!! ill post pics later on my stingray and finger!

No, i was bloody scared as it was more painful than when i broke my arm! i put my little finger in boiling hot water, it complety stopped the pain. I just a little painfull now. The pain went all up my arm, sort of like a snake bite.
