Leopard Ctenopoma - who has one?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, I have had several over the years, almost always from petsmart. They are awesome fish, I have never had any problem getting them to eat flakes, pellets or anything else. Just keep them with other fish who eat dry stuff and they will learn. I've never had mine become predatory, I feed them once a day and they do t bother anyone. They will grow crazy fast until about 3-4 inches and then slow down quite a bit. Great fish with great personality

You don't feed any live. That's half the fun to me! Watchin 'em slurp up some shrimp and hunt for feeders like they would in the wild...that's where it's at. :)

I only rarely feed live, I do feed bloodworms and various other frozen stuff but mostly NLS and Omega One. I will get feeders every once in a while if I can find some good clean ones. Most places just have Rosie reds and goldfish, I won't feed those. But every once in a while a shop will have feeder white clouds or guppies.

I bought one recently, he lives in a 75 gal with guppies, hes around 2.5 inches, but after only a few minutes of him freely swimming in the tank he quickly ate one of the guppies, but he also takes pellets, he always hide but whenever hes out to "hunt" for guppies he is fun to look at

I've got 1 WC Ctenopoma acutirostre that I feed NLS Large Fish Formula 3mm Pellets. He's been doing great since I got him several months ago.

I feed mine NLS and freeze dried mini krill. Once my tank is finished I will probably start to give some ghost shrimp. One thing, make sure you get the one with the darkest spots, those always look the best :). Also provide a few caves and plants for them to hide on as they are a ambush predator. I'll post a few pics of mine later.

Please do. I'd love to see it. Also, let me know age/size when you do. Thanks.

Not the greatest pic, I will get a few more in a bit. Not sure how old he is but he is about 3.5-4inches.
