Leopard Ctenopoma - who has one?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Awesome, Cheesehead! He is a cool looking fish. I hear their pretty personable. I'm used to personality as I used to keep Oscars. My oldest would get mad if we left the house for too long and would tear up everything in the tank. To the point that one time he did that and apparently broke his jaw! He was crooked mouthed forevermore!

Yes he has a huge personality! Every time I step in the room he goes nuts begging for food! I also trained him to take food from my hand, which takes a bit but is really fun.

I had one, it was one of my favorites, unfortunately it didnt survive my 3 hour move. Idk what caused it because hes the only one i lost, id guess stress.

Mine would absolutely destroy shrimp pelets. I had to soak them before i threw them in there because he would attempt to swallow them whole.

live brine was his favorite, followed by pieces of worm, followed by frozen whole krill that i cut up, he was only about 2 inches long though, would eat out of my hand but when he did he would always grab it and take it back to his lair under a log

Nice action going on on this thread!! I love these little guys so much. I currently have two of them in one tank and feed them pellets, flakes, blood worms, krill, and feeder rosies. I haven't seen a lot of aggression between the two, besides one time which was just a little tail slapping. One of them will hand feed but the other just likes to watch. Great fish, I got both of mine from Petsmart.

How big are yours? I would love to keep multiples together. Ive just herd its very difficult to find two or more that will not kill eachother.

I love these fish. The one i have is about 6" now and really fat. Eats everything! Live feeders, pellets, shrimp...anything.

I currently have him in my 180 with a large agressive community. It does fine because i have lot for driftwood for hiding.

Cant say enough good things about this fish.

Make sure you have enough caves for all of them if you keep more than one, make sure you have a cave for each one. They don't like to share caves lol.

i have two, by far the coolest fish i've ever owned. I have two, one in the 6" range and another in the 4" really inquisitive they both have their own personality's but what cheesehead said is 100% true lots of caves and hiding places is a must in order to keep more then one of these fish

I have one that I have had for at least 4-5+ years, he is 5.5" +/- long. Right now this one is in a 29high til I can get my replacement tank running. they always have such great personalities, he has got to be my favorite fish by far! I have never really fed much live food to this one, and he comes out a good amount. I feed Hikari food sticks mostly, but also gets flake. I have another one I am trying to grow up so I can place them together in this new tank.
