the stresses of moving combined with living in less than an ideal salinity could have affected its osmoregulation and started a chain reaction, the fish unable to retain the correct level of salt and water in thhe body led to stress, stress led to no eating, disease, infection, etc and the ultimate demise of the fish.
i dont think thhey where bsing with you, but where ignorant to what ideal salinity the fish really needed.
People keep these fish in full freshwater for their entire lives with no problems at all. This is quite common...its not just 1 or 2 people doing it.
Which is why I think it is quite possible that this fish was previously in SW and could not adapt to the full FW.
But...im over it...ive moved on...lesson learnt.
If I ever get another mangrove jack it will be personally raised by me...or it will only be bought if I witness it living in FW.
