Unfortunately I have lost one of my favorite fish.

I think over time the full freshwater was too much. I noticed in the last month he became quite sluggish. I then started to add salt and he did seem to improve slightly however during the last week it was all too much and he declined rapidly :(

I had to put him out of his misery. It is a shame that such a proud fish ended this way.

I am also disappointed that I never shared this fish with MFK. It was an awesome fish.

I could get flamed for this...but as far as I knew...he was kept in full freshwater before I purchased him. But I suppose an LFS will tell you anything to sell their stock.

yes they do, when they don't care for the fish. It is a trend that worries me, epople selling and buying brackish and sw fish and putting them in fw...you see it so often. it is criminal.

I won't flame you. The one who never makes mistakes doens't learn..

Nobody can flame you for this, do not forget that they are found almost fully grown in full fresh occasionally in their natural habitat.

what was his size? Great fish nevertheless, largest ive seen in captivity.

condolences

I have caught many snapper in brackish water, they need some salt, I would surmise

Steve, could you post some pix of that beast in the tank, please?
