As far as I have seen and someone else posted if you rtc's tail is white he is stressed, if it yellow under it is underfed, and when your rtc is in good health and happy the tail is a deep blood red.

If I'm not mistaken (and I may be) I believe location also plays a factor. Along with diet, conditions and all that of course. But i seem to recall reading or hearing something about the color of the tail depending on location in the amazon.
 
Hey guys,Just wanted to share my pics of my recently purchased RTC he's 3.5". He's in a 90 gal. tank right now. But I'll be building an indoor pond for it. Half of my basement is unfinished.(25'x25') That's where is going to be eventually.

you only have 3 lol thats a ton and at that size holy cow i wish i have the space only have space for smaller monsters :) also vid not working
 
Heres a pic of my big guy. He's currently about 32". I've really been keeping after his waterchanges and feeding him a very mixed diet and his colors are really getting nice :naughty:
