Nobody said I "hate" cats, and by the way, they stink. People who leave litter boxes in their houses for those animals to use, get used to it, I guess. I am pretty sure we won't ever meet each other to discuss it further, but MY opinion is that they are nasty little creatures. Maybe that is why I decided to keep fish in a glass box instead of letting a cat run through the house peeing on stuff, which isn't an opinion, I have several friends that have felines in their houses, and have personally experienced it.
Well ill say it (I HATE CATS) man if my wife dint like them they would never see the inside of our home.

KEEP THEM INDOORS!!!!!!
everyone has a cry if you let your dog out but if its a cat theres no probolms. i hate cats as i keep birds in cages outside and the cats jumped on to the cages and scared the **** out of my birds, killing a lot of them. i also had rabbits out side in a fenced off area the stupid cats managed to get in and killed 5 of my rabbits and where continually harassing my fihs in my ponds. so i got angry and got a heap off traps and set them around the place and caought myself a cat i also added big rat traps onto of my avaires so when the cats go up there SNAP there leg is cought. i wouldnt harm the cats there death was painless for them i just stuck them in a barrel of water and put the lid on it for a few days then i emptyed it and WOLA another cat gone, i dont have any cat probolms anymore

Lovely, maybe you should request being put in a barrel of water so you can experiance the same painless death. You're a saint.

okay you should of given the cats to the pound or something, if there strays then they are wild and what do you think wild cats are going to do? If its someones pet.. then prob. you just killed a cat that a family probably loved to death and instead of returning it to the pound you kill it. Think of it this way, if it was your pets that wondered out and someone didnt like it in their yard so they killed it, how would you feel? I dont mean it in a harsh way - I just mean for you to think about that..

Personally I am a cat owner and I LOVE my cat, I lover her to death! She is an indoor cat cuse I dont want her getting in fights with other cats or coming acorss bigger dogs that tend to get lose around here. She is sweet and lovalbe, but given the chance to sneak out the back door - she will and it has happened before but me or my brother always catch her in time cuse shes not to sneaky. If someone ever harmed my cat just becuase she got lose on accident cuse someone left the door open or something I would be very very upset. Its my cat and if someone in my house left the door open on accident its not my fault she got out, but that doenst mean she should be harmed becuase she wandered to far, no she should either be brought to the vet, pound or back to my house. Now I have two people on both sides of my house that own outdoor cats and they are good about staying in their own yard, the one wanders between my yard and their yard but we dont mind - it was a stray so the one lady just feeds it cuse she is lonely and the cat is to wild and dirty to be inside - but it does stay inbetween the two yards. I dont think it would be right for something to happen to that cat either, its wild and if it were to do something it would be on instinct. It has to survive somehow - it had no food supply other then what it caught around the neighborhood before the lady next door started feeding it. Its to wild to be an indoor cat, so what are you supposed to do with it? taking it to the pound to be killed to me is very inhumane and having to lock something that wild up (yes its very wild trust me) is wrong. At least they lady now feeds it and trys to care for it - and so far it doesnt even leave the yards (that includes at night when I am out and about). It is also people friendly but very skidish. Its a sweet cat and if someone harmed it for doing its insticts of eating cuse it was wild and no one wanted it or took care of it and the lady next door didnt take care of it, then it would be wrong - it has to survive somehow. Even my dad takes care of a group of wild cats at his work. They kill animals there alot becuase they have nothing else to eat - they were born in the woods - found in the woods and my dad said they eat the rats off their work property. No one is there to care for them - they are wild, so what else are they going to do to survive? My dad buys cat food to feed them now, but they are not the type of cats you can just pick up and take home, they have diseases, they are flea/tick infested and are very dirty. If you dont want the cats in your yard then I can very well understand using humane ways of getting them out of your yard. Somepeople dont like animals or certian ones. Its very understandable - but not all cats can be kept indoors. Cats are not just domesticated animals they are also wild animals. As for domesticated cats - I do think they should be kept indoors there alot of risks for cats if they are kept outdoors. Keeping cats inside would be the way to go as cats who are outdoors have alot of problems and things they can catch.

For those of you who say that cats must roam free to be happy – the same applies to every other animal including dogs and your fish. Working in a veterinarian office I must say that there are a number of issues with cats roaming the streets: basic issues with parasites (fleas, ticks, mites), fights (everything from broken teeth, eye damage, open wounds, etc), eating various poisons (especially rat poison), and finally not being able to catch basic problems early (cat not going to the bathroom, or having blood in its urine, and all kinds of other stuff). Aids and Leukemia is quite an issue too with street cats, and if you allow your unaltered cat to go outside you are just an extremely idiotic person.

And the thing I hate the most is these cats end up becoming feral, aka effing insane.

Id also like to add on the smelly litter box and dirty house cat issue. Those are usually due to the owner. If the cat is spraying around your house either they prob. didnt get it fixed or they didnt litter train it. Litter box's also dont usually smell bad unless you dont keep your house/litter box clean. I keep my cat very clean - she doesnt spray/pee/poo around the house only the litter box and her litter box does not smell we keep it clean. The more so depends on the owner and hose well they take care of it.

ASH POST A PIC OF YOU KITTY!! she (or he) makes me giggle inside :D :D :D :D

it would be hard to keep alot of outdoor cats indoors

they are already acustom to life outdoors it will be hard for them if not impossible to adjust

its the life style they are used to, and you can t really change that in an adult cat

i think the best preventate way would be to

keep them indoors as kittens dont expose them to outdoors (unsupervised)

spay/neuter

teach them that the litterbox is the bathroom

a cat that grew up indoors will stay indoors
