Let there be....300 Gallon 's

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks again for all the comments. It's been a real pain and pleasure setting this tank up. But it's almost just the way I want it.
I am giving the fish and filter time to get established and try and locate any trouble spots. Once thats done...I'm done....Untill I get more fish.

So far I love the 2262. It moves a ton of water. I had to buy suction cup's to put on all my tall plants just to keep them from folding over from the current.
If you get the chance to get one.....GET IT!!!
I am getting one as the building block of the filtration for my upcoming 400-600 gallon Can't wait. I started looking for tanks today :)

It should not be hard to find a great deal on a 400-600 gallon tank in Cali.
It's a good thing I dont live out there.
With the deals I have seen on tank's in your area, I would be broke and divorced.
Good luck!!!

Great setup. You have a nice tank and you also put alot of work into the stand. Are you a little worried about pythoning the gravel with all of those plants?

Im looking at a 720 acrylic used ofcourse. Very competitively priced. Im not sure if I can justify tearing my house up for plumbing and all that though plud reinforcing the floor. It would take a lot of work . I think I would be best off with a 500 . But I do wake up at night imagining a 720 :)

Thanks.
Most of the plants up frony are set in 3 inches of gravel. So I am not worried about those. But the ones in the back that are so close together may pose a problem.
I really like the way it's set-up right now. But if some plants get in the way or keep me from having an easy go at gravel cleaning, I will move them or re-move them accordingly.
Of course, Cichlids by themselves have a funny way of "moving" plants around if they are in there way. So only time will tell how it all ends up.

Sounds like a plan. I was talking to my wife last night, about getting another tank. She said that I can get a 240 or 300 gallon, but it would have to go into the garage. I'm never in the garage, so that would not be great in my opinion.

Why would she want something so beautiful hidden ? I mean I can understand if there's no room but IMO Fish tanks of that size are for beyond scientific reasons. There to be gazed upon longingly by you and your house guests. :)

great tank!
