Let there be....300 Gallon 's

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Back to the drawing board. I have removed all the sand from my tank and replaced it with gravel. That sand stuff was a bad idea for me.
I cleaned that stuff untill prunes was growing from my hand. And it was still dirty.
The tank clouded up as soon as I put my Eheim 2262 to work.
The current from that filter stirred up the "muck" that had settled on the top layer after I put the sand in. And not only that, but I really did not like the look of it.
I thought it was my plants I put in that looked bad. But after all, it was the sand.
So back to the trusty ol' gravel I go.
I know many of you use sand and have great luck with it.
Congrat's. But I will be sticking with gravel.

And digging 300lbs of sand out of a 30" tall, eight foot long tank was no picnic.
Updated pics later.

Sorry read past few pages

congrats on such a beautiful tank. Your definitely skilled with these fish tanks man. Good choice on the canister. Hope all is going well. What type of cycling are you going to do ? Anyways looks great and congrats!

Thanks again everyone.
I am using some old bio and gravel as well as water from my year old 75 gallon to get things started on cycle, and I am reading up on the fishless cycle to finish things off.
I am trying to keep away from using fish to cycle the tank.
I dont want to have to chase fish around to remove once there job is done.

Well, I finally got the tank put back together and I am completely happy with the outcome.
Now, let the cycle begin.

Finally got some fish in the tank and the decor finished.
The fish are still a little shy from the move out of the 75 to the 300.
They seem to stay really near the large center piece of driftwood and wont go near the top of the tank.... Hopefully they will be back to normal soon and swimming around.
So far I have....

1- Green Terror
1- Synspilium
1- Nacaraguensis
2- Gold Severums
2- Green Severums
1- Blood Parrot
4- CoryCats

Thats it for now. More soon.
