So what little (or big) things do you do in your life to cut corners and save a little extra cash? I'm personally trying to find more and more ways to cut back and even the little things add up quickly. So please share! Maybe we can all benefit from this. :)

Cfl to replace incandescent bulbs, don't flush the toilet every time you pee, don't go thru the garage to check your mail use the front door, make sure the doors always shut, program your thermostat to shut off when you leave for work, drive a manual, close vents in rooms you don't use and most of all POTHOS!

All the lamps in my house are on timers (wifes idea), we buy a lot of grocerys at costco to save cash. Buy our smokes at the cheapest place in town everytime (57 cents cheaper per pack saves me under $2 a week) got a "gas rewards card" similar to airmiles.

Every small thing you do to save money adds up in time. I'm sure I'm missing 100 other small things we do to save money. Let's not forget driving down to mommys house on the weekends for free food and baby sitter lol.

- 401K. Max it out at $17500 this year.
- Home ownership! Ya gota live somewhere might as well make it profitable.
- Do not buy a new car no matter what, it's just dumb.
- Do not pay interest in a credit card. Pay it off every month or just don't use it.

It really irks me when anyone gets up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and they turn any lights on...I don't turn on any lights if I don't have to....walk if possible and don't waste gas by driving short distances.

I bought a cheap throw-away Kia to burn up miles to and from work. It gets about 32 miles per gallon... My jeep gets about 8. My pickup is about the same. I miss driving my jeep all the time, but I've been able to do more off road upgrades now that it isn't my daily driver.

We burn wood in the winter. The house stays at about 75 degrees, and the basement (where both the wood stove and all my tanks are) stays around 80. The tank heaters rarely turn on, which helps save electricity. Last year, in the winter months, we burned between 10-20 gallons a month of heating oil, which was mostly just hot water. At $3.55 a gallon, I can't imagine how people can afford to burn 1000+ gallons a year. Wood is between $150-180 a cord. Plus, with hurricanes in the area two years in a row, there has been plenty of free wood available. It just takes a little work, but that saves me a gym membership, too. :)

I saw a huge rise in finances when I quit smoking, I never realized how much I spent till I quit.

This is my next step. Mainly for my son because I honestly enjoy my smoke breaks way too much.

Living in ontario helps. Half the time its too damn cold to go to the garage for a cigg.

Recycle
Go out to the movies or restaurants less
Don't buy any new gadgets or gizmos (new cellphone every time a new one comes out or TV when your old one still works)
Don't replace anything like furniture or appliances just cause you want something new, "Don't replace what ain't broke"
Be content with most things you have now, don't go overboard on fish tanks and fish ( or anything else for that matter)
Grow fruits/herbs/veggies to save on food bills
Use coupons
Use energy efficient bulbs around your house
Install solar panels ( if you got the cash up front to invest in it)
Ride a bike or take public transportation instead of driving
Drive a more economical vehicle
