i know your rays must be big right ?

all i know is when rays get big 12inch+ they love to play with things and move stuff around

any heater in my tank wouldnt last 10 mins without a gaurd the rays would pull it of the wall and play with it all night

this is the main reason i use the hydor exturnal heaters if you have the option of putting the heaters in a sump then great if you run canister filters use the hydor

I have had a few large motoros in the tank 12" + and still never had a problem... I did keep them in the sump but liked how my temp was more stable with them in the tank... I noticed fluctuations with all in the sump... plus if the pump ever failed there would still be heat in the tank..... hydors are not a bad idea if you have canisters...

the trouble with PVC pipe is the heater heats up the water in the pipe then the stat turns the heater off

you need to drill big holes and even then you still get hot spots and cold spots in the tank

the hydors move the water around much better IMO

i know everyone likes diffrent things i just think the hydors are great for a ray tank

my adult p14s used to even pull internal filters down every night i thought they was doing it just to piss me off

hydors are a great idea. pity they are so crap. they wont last a couple of months.(at least thats what mine did).

this is strange but how no one really cares to stock heater guards (LFS i mean)

My heater guard is a 75g wet/dry.
