I'll leave it to F1 Vet to describe what a 4cyl race car looks like...

Import cars tend to be more efficient when it comes to displacement, but they are more complex engines with variable valve timing and other gadgets that make more power with less cylinders. American hosre power has traditionally been to have the biggest engine you can fit under the hood with less focus on efficiency. For example the 2014 Dodge viper has a 8.4liter V10 that produces 640hp which is pretty weak for that amount of engine imo. Now a 2014 Nissan GTR has a 3.4liter twin turbo that produces 545hp. The Viper runs a 3.4 second 0-60mph with a 11.6 second 1/4mile while the GTR runs a 10.9 second 1/4 mile stock with a 2.8 0-60mph. The GTR also gets 23mpg highway while the Viper gets 19mpg.

Point is the Japanese and other countries have found greater efficiency in their engines, you see it in racing as well. not to say America's not catching up.

You could easily take a 4 cylinder like a STI or supra and drop serious dinero into it, throw slicks on it and run 7-10second quarter miles all day and the best part is these cars also handle better! Here's a 6.4 second quarter mile supra http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=O0faiWSBXTo

But nothing beats the sound of american 2000+hp!

×Go S. Vettel #1 Infiniti Redbull! 4x WDC!!! Congrats on another flawless title× <GET BETTER SCHUMI>

With all this fast car talk. It seems everyone has forgotten the one key ingredient for fast 1/4 times. You need to be able to drive!

Hey FMA,I've noticed you are one of the most active posters on this thread but you haven't yet posted any photos so let's see your chariot!

I don't know man, rotary sounds pretty good.. I'm biased though haha.

I'm partial to the rumble from a turbo boxer Subaru STI. I can hear it from a mile away and my wife can tell from the look on my face when I hear one.

Fun fact about Subaru's: you can buy a used 04-07 wrx for dirt cheap, open source tune it (or go with a Cobb AP) and with cat-back exhaust go 0-60 in under 4.5sec. Mine had a big turbo, cat less exhaust and a full tune with launch control. I could launch at 19psi and destroy pretty much anything off the line. I had about $10k invested and i could easily outrun pretty much any mustangs (including Shelby's) new cameros, 370's, outran a M3... all kinds of goodies. Bigger turbo, meth injection, weight reduction...I still had tons I could have done.

Point is anything can be fast. It all comes down to personal preference. Saying this car is better than that car...all that jazz is just you opinion. I saw a 95 V6 mustang with a stock block and a GIANT turbo in the front bumper slaying late model procharged vets are the track last time I was there...

I sold my mr-s a month ago and was looking for a sti/wrx. The bug eye actually looks better to me than the eagle eye. Not by much though so it's not a deciding factor. I was thinking about whether or not I want to spend 10 grand on a wrx or push it up to 14 for the sti. By the sound of it getting a wrx and building it up would be a better idea? The 4 doors and the turbo on those Subaru is just soooooo attractive.
